Translation Services

With effect from 1 January 2015, the Supreme Court will provide translation services only for documents used in Supreme Court proceedings and private translation requests will cease to be provided.

Translation services are available for court-related documents in the four official languages (namely, English, Chinese, Malay and Tamil). All requests should be made at least 4 weeks before the date that the translated documents are required. Case reference number must be provided at the time of request.

Law firms may request for translation services by completing this E-Form and attaching the documents for translation, which should not exceed 1.5MB per file. No more than 5 documents should be forwarded with an E-Form at any one time. Should translation be required for more than 5 documents, separate E-Forms should be submitted. The E-form is for use by law firms only.

Litigants-in-person, with documents to be used for Supreme Court proceedings, are required to attend personally at the Interpreters Section at Level 3M to request for translation services. Please be informed that the operating hours of the Interpreters Section are 8.30 am to 5.30 pm on Mondays to Thursdays, and 8.30 am to 5.00 pm on Fridays. Please bring along the original as well as a photocopy of the document for translation. If only photocopies are provided, the remark “Original not produced” will be annotated on every set of translation produced.

The Supreme Court may decline any translation request, whether because specialised technical terms are used in the source document, or for any other reason.

The following fees are payable for translation services rendered:

Collection of Translated Documents

Applicants will be informed by email/phone when translated documents are ready for collection. Please proceed to the Interpreters Section for the payment and collection of translated documents.

Law firms are required to produce a print-out of the completed E-Form bearing the service request number.

Litigants-in-person are required to bring along the collection slip provided by the Interpreters Section, as well as their identification card.
