Appointment of Deputy Registrar, Supreme Court

Singapore, January 1, 2012  - The President of Singapore has appointed Ms Teh Hwee Hwee as the Deputy Registrar of the Supreme Court with effect from 1 January 2012.  She will continue to hold her appointment as District Judge concurrently with her appointment as Deputy Registrar.  Ms Teh takes over from Ms Lim Yoon Cheng Audrey, who has been posted to the Legislation and Law Reform Division of the Attorney-General’s Chambers.

Ms Teh started her career in the Legal Service as an Assistant Registrar of the Supreme Court.  Her subsequent appointments included that of State Counsel in the Attorney-General’s Chambers and Assistant Chief Executive (Legal Industry) of the Singapore Academy of Law.  She was posted back to the Supreme Court as Senior Assistant Registrar in 2009.

Ms Teh has a special interest in alternative dispute resolution.  She served as the first Executive Director of the Singapore Mediation Centre and led the launch and development of the centre during its formative period in the 1990s.  She now sits on its Board of Directors and is a member of a number of advisory bodies on mediation. 

Ms Teh received her Bachelor of Laws degree at the National University of Singapore and her Master’s degree in law at the Harvard Law School.  She has been admitted as an Advocate and Solicitor of the Supreme Court of Singapore and an Attorney and Counsellor-at-Law of the State Bar of New York.
