Extension of Appointment of JC Edmund Leow as a Judicial Commissioner of the Supreme Court

Singapore, 1 October 2014 – The President, in accordance with Article 94(4) of the Constitution, has extended the appointment of JC Edmund Leow (廖学铭) as a Judicial Commissioner of the Supreme Court for a further period of one year with effect from 1 October 2014. JC Leow was sworn in as a Judicial Commissioner at a ceremony held at the Istana this morning.
 
JC Edmund Leow was appointed as a Judicial Commissioner of the Supreme Court since 1 October 2013. JC Leow specialises in tax and corporate law and held previous appointment as the managing principal of law firm Baker & McKenzie. He obtained his Bachelor of Arts in Law (First Class Honours) from Cambridge University.
 
With the extension of JC Edmund Leow’s appointment, the Supreme Court will have a total of 14 Judges (including the Chief Justice) and six Judicial Commissioners.
