Extension of Appointment of JC George Wei Sze Shun as a Judicial Commissioner of the Supreme Court

Singapore, 1 August 2014 – The President, in accordance with Article 94(4) of the Constitution, has extended the appointment of JC George Wei Sze Shun as a Judicial Commissioner of the Supreme Court for a further period of one year with effect from 1 August 2014.
 
2        JC George Wei was appointed as a Judicial Commissioner of the Supreme Court since 1 August 2013. JC Wei is an expert in intellectual property law in Singapore and was previously  Professor of Law at the Singapore Management University (SMU). He obtained his Diploma in Law from the School of Oriental & African Studies, University of London, and later his Masters in Law, from the University College London. 

3        With the appointment of JC George Wei, the Supreme Court will have a total of 14 Judges (including the Chief Justice) and four Judicial Commissioners.
