Swearing-in of Judicial Commissioner and Appointment of Registrar, the Supreme Court of Singapore

Singapore, 2 April 2015 – The President of the Republic of Singapore, acting in his discretion, and in concurrence with the advice of the Prime Minister, has appointed Mr Foo Chee Hock (符志福), former Registrar of the Supreme Court, as a Judicial Commissioner of the High Court of Singapore with effect from 1 April 2015 for a term of three years. The President, on the recommendation of the Chief Justice, has appointed Mr Vincent Hoong Seng Lei (洪承利) as the Registrar of the Supreme Court, with effect from 1 April 2015.

2 Mr Foo Chee Hock was sworn in at a ceremony held at the Istana today. He will also concurrently oversee the development of the Singapore Judicial College under the auspices of the Supreme Court.

4 With the appointment of Mr Foo, the Supreme Court bench will have a total of 13 Judges (including the Chief Justice), nine Judicial Commissioners and five Senior Judges.
